Roll Call: VIR 22-23 PCA DE

Who's coming?? This will be my first time at VIR. Looking forward to it based on what all I've heard.

One question I had.. Is VIR particularly hard on Brakes? or tires? If so which side on the tires?

Circuit Motorsports 11-14-2008 09:53 AM

I don't find it too hard on brakes. Left side tires definitely get it worse in my experience.

Of the tracks in this part of the country, imho, I think VIR is one of the better balanced for wear: not too hard on tires or brakes. Agree with CM due to the predominance of right hand turns. It's a beautiful track and Carolinas always throws a good event. See ya at the track!

Dave, you are going to have a blast!

I'll be there as well as the 2 days prior!

As far as the track, it is VERY fast and because of that it is very easy on brakes (plenty time for cooling). As Joe said, left side tires take a beating. I will swap left to right after day 1 or front event to event to help balance out the wear.

The track itself is amazing and one that will leaving you saying OMG! Definitely ranks up there with the best tracks in the country.

Nadine and I will be there.... Papa Smurf has had enough rest from the club race, time to go drive again!:jumper:

Dell knows best about wear at VIR - he's probably logs more laps there in a year than most of us do at all track in 10 years!

Crazy Canuck 11-14-2008 05:52 PM

I'm making the trek on my snowmobile.

We pretty heavily trashed the left side tires on teh pace car this summer. Front wheel drive takes an especially hard beating. Although the all seasons on my wife's car survive okay.

Those that are attending Friday's session. I'd like to maybe hitch a ride for a few laps so I'm better prepared for Saturday. I should be there late afternoon Friday.

Thanks to Dog in Black for the in car video and tips!

LVDell 11-14-2008 09:16 PM

Dog in Black? You mean "the" Tucker? That dude is frickin fast around VIR!!!!

007DT 11-14-2008 09:24 PM

Yep.. Tucker

He gave me a little cheat sheet video he made-up, it is great.

LVDell 11-14-2008 09:35 PM

so you gonna share???

007DT 11-14-2008 10:07 PM

It's not email-able. He sent me a disk. Sure I'll share if you let me sit shot-gun on Friday.

cgomez 11-14-2008 10:41 PM

Anyone know if there's space available for Friday's session?
Just want to get out on track one last time before next spring!

Have fun, Dave! Great track! Average on brakes IMO, not particularly hard. In your car, your LR tire will get it the worst IMO. Unless you are slow to get on the gas in the corners! ;)
