Default Where are the Kimi detractors 08

There were many detractors last year , after Michael refusal to have equal status with Kimi and was fired , Hey FInn , Enjoy all yours,

Kimi Raikkonen continued to lead the way on the third day of testing today in Bahrain. The defending champion completed 74 laps of the 5.412km circuit, recording a best lap of 1:30.455s, a tenth up on his Tuesday pace.

To put the time into perspective, the fastest race lap during the 2007 Bahrain Grand Prix was 1:34.067, while the fastest qualifying lap was a 1:31.359.

Today Raikkonen was joined by team-mate Felipe Massa. Both worked on general development of the F2008, concentrating on comparisons between different set-ups on the car. Massa completed 73 laps with a best time of 1:31.293s.

The team take a two day break and then start a second three-day stint at the circuit starting on Saturday with Raikkonen and Massa.

1. Kimi Raikkonen Ferrari 1:30:455
2. Felipe Massa Ferrari 1:31:293
3. Jarno Trulli Toyota 1:32:145
4. Kamui Kobayashi Toyota 1:32:265

I laughed my *** off when I saw the thread title!

Wayne, you really cover everything F1 related (Hakkinen divorce)!

Kimi's pace with the non TC car pretty ok, huh? And he's been all smiles saying how well the car works. Seems that it suits him much better than the last year's car, trouble for others...

Kimi detractors? I predict 3 pages, if that.

Not that you can't fill it up with news printouts.

Trouble for others to say the least. Would not shock me if Kimi wins title again this year. Yes, I think he is THAT good. But I do see a hell of a fight with Ron Dennis's golden boy. And even suprisingly I think Alonso could be up there for the battle to keep things interesting. Flav could suprize us with a real competative car. Lets see.

I will say this, Kimi is and should be the odds on favorite to repete this year... BUT, I'm weary of McLaren. They are not testing in Bahrain, so we can't compare how they are doing there. In Spain, they looked very quick. McLaren has lengthened their wheelbase, while Ferrari have shortened their base. Also Ferrari has always been fast in Bahrain. Finally be weary of the teams under the radar like BMW or williams. They're awfully quiet and could sneak up on people.

Don't forget Alonso with Renault.

How can we forget, Mitch? It seems like we can't get over this ALonso guy. He tends to penetrate every F1 thread.

As a Ferrari fan, if I thought he'd be able to bring more championships to Ferrari, I would welcome him. And I'm not saying this to get a reaction from Wayne, however, the way he left Renault and what transpired at McLaren showed what type of disruptive force and cancer he can be within a team. As volitile as Ferrari is, he could set them back years if there is infighting at the Scuderia. I don't want him at F for ANY reason. Kimi is so laid back, he is actually a calming force at Ferrari. To tell you the truth, Massa is a little bit of a loose cannon. One day he says he will help his teammate (after he was mathmatically eliminated) the next day he says he's not going to help his teammate.

I don't think we'll see Kimi and Alonso together at Ferrari, either. Excuse the pun, but Ferrari's formula has been to have a clear #1 with a supporting 2. Two #1's splits the points too much to have a unified title run.

Pete, I merely meant that Alonso may be able to bring the Renault into contention. I seriously doubt Ferarri is courting him. I think they may be leading him along in case Kimi does retire. You never know about a guy like Kimi. He may just walk away after winning another WDC. I don't think there is another driver in the paddock who seems to care less about the glory. Although he does like the notoriety and parties!!

Oh, the parties are the best, that's why he hasn't retired yet

I will say that IF Renault is at least competitive with Alonso, it would be good for the sport. I see Alonso as the guy wearing the black hat right now, the guy everyone loves to hate. That's why a lot of the people who didn't necessary like Kimi or Ferrari were pulling for them to win last year. It was more a vote against Alonso.

I think you have to add that duo of dolts, Hammy and his dad to that list for me!

Yea, your right. Hamilton's head got too big during the season. It was sweet to see him, ALonso and Ron Dennis go home with no hardware. However, it would be good for the sport to have him challenge in 2008. It wouldn't be a fun season to see Kimi and Ferrari run away from the pack.
