I'll be there today (Friday). Wearing shorts and a dark green t-shirt that says "College." Say hi if you see me in the paddock.

Hello All,
Just got to Carmel last night after spending the last 5 days in San Fran at a conference. Can not wait for the races! Should be over there Saturday and for the IMSA cup on Sunday.

After all the talk about the 911s having lapped their last mile at the beginning of the year its great to see them 1 & 2 in qualifying at the last race of the year. Nick comeback Porsche 911!

Fantastic day down at Laguna today! Slipped down for the afternoon qualifying. Yeah, the RSRs look to be out gunning the 430's right now, but the Acura's seem to be all over the Spyders in P2. The times these guys are putting down are just incredible. Should be a great race tomorrow.

See my earlier post referring to the rescinding of the fuel variance.
The DFI Spyder engine does not cope well with the current fuel.

Latest rumors point to Penske leaving ALMS for 2009 to race a Porsche powered DP in Grand Am whilst he awaits for a new Hybrid LMP1 Porsche to come out of Weissach in 2010.
Penske will keep the current team together (crew, and engineers) in GA and focus on the development of the new LMP1.

Wow does NBC s.... That was right up there with some of the worst broadcasts I have seen in racing. Combine taht with Laguna Seca's horrible move to sand everywhere and I have to say that this was a let down of a race. But........GT2 and P2 for Porsche! Gotta love that!

some of the most exciting sports cars in a race in HISTORY, and they focus on the boring , ugly prototypes! sure, they are awesome displays of power and engineering, but FOLKS, i dont think they showed one clip of a GT2 car, unless it was punted by the prototypes. They even spent more time on the GT1 corvettes, (now thats an exciting class...... two cars, and the same team no less! ) when they mentioned they were having some great battles for the lead......

we have ferrari, austin martin, porsche FordGT, and a Viper in GT2 and they didnt spend any time with them over the 2 hour broad cast. I did like the incar footage, but it was all from prototypes. AND , they mentioned that Laguna as no grip with its "old" pavement. (and actually it is quite grippy, wears the heck out of your tires and is new as of 2006)

Almost a total waste of time, except the prototype battle toward the end was pretty good.

NBC's Speed coverage was so bad I was thinking that I could do a better job if I was standing on the side of the track with a camcorder and a microphone.
