Default F1 car vs. M5 on Top Gear

Hope this isn't an Enzo. Searched and didn't find it already posted.

What struck me was how much physical conditioning is involved. My other thought was why didn't they at least match it up against a Cup Car or a GT2 instead of the heavy M5?

I don't know "Tiff's" experience, but they sent him out on grooved tires, not the full wets you usually see during these press pieces. He did a great job with what was probably cold tires and less than optimal brake temps (who knows if the engine was detuned), but the sound of the V10 brings back memories.

He raced 962s back in the day, so he's not your average TV host

This is Tiff in his racing days with the 962 :http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=clGlGrWDzcs

He had also a very brief F1 appearance in 1980...

That 962 is just a pure beast. He's manhandling it.

My other thought when I was watching him drive the F1 was, who would have to write the check for the car if he stuffed it into a wall.

Then you really would've missed the V12s... And the experience from TV is about 3% when compared to hearing those engines in person.
When Ferrari was coming behind the trees of Hockenheim, there was no mistaken what car was coming...

Although the few times when we went to Hungarian GPs with buddies of mine and parked the RV right outside of the track wall (outside of the short straiht between T5 & T6), our "alarm clock" was bunch of V10 F1 engines singing their "song".
It was a fabulous wake up, hear them starting to come out of the distance, then get very close and SCREAM. Then one of us put the coffee going while rest of us climbed on the roof and started the day with a can of Hungarian beer while our ears were shattered by F1!

Or when you're running behind one. I know, I know, the owner was just warming the thing up (312T2). Hell, even the lowly DFV powered Lotus I got to run and hang with last year was pretty magical to be stuffed up under his pipes!
