Default Summit Point Club Race

So, about 60 cars registered and no one in my class to race against. What is the latest status of the pavement?

Geoffrey

Some of us are racing with NASA at the Glen that weekend instead. Not sure if you'd have anyone in your class there either though.

Colin (aka Renntag) said the new pavement looks really nice when I talked to him yesterday after he took the pics. The rumor a few weeks ago is that it's the same asphalt being used to repave Martinsburg runways to take the increased abuse from the C-141 to C-5 upgrade.

I was just there for an SCCA race over Labor Day. I heard they're repaving in sections, around the schedule of the gov't training groups. I think turn 1 is done.... but we're not going to the PCA race unless turn 5,6 are done and I see pictures!

Any specific reasons?
I hesitate to post this and I am not intending to start a debate, arguement, or anything. From the NASA events I've been to, there is too little track time, too many classes with few participants, poorly prepared cars (NASCAR tube chassis with a wet cell battery in the wheelwell between the exhaust and tire is an example), and overagressive driving with minor contact resulting. Not that some or all of that isn't seen in PCA Club Racing, it just doesn't seem to be as prevelant.

Thank you Geoffrey, no debate coming from me.. It will be my 1st NASA race and if I am not happy, my last. I tried their DE program once and won't go back but am going in with an open mind.

That's interesting. When a few PCA drivers from NY showed up to NASA-MA's Hyperfest this year, it was the PCA drivers whacking other cars that was the problem. Maybe NASA-NE is less cautious and organized causing your experience. It was only 3 drivers (out of ~200 racers I think) causing over 3/4 of the racing incidents for the whole weekend in my example.

NASA is run differently from region to region. Don't let your opinion of one region prevent you from running with another.
