Colin (aka Renntag) said the new pavement looks really nice when I talked to him yesterday after he took the pics. The rumor a few weeks ago is that it's the same asphalt being used to repave Martinsburg runways to take the increased abuse from the C-141 to C-5 upgrade.

I was just there for an SCCA race over Labor Day. I heard they're repaving in sections, around the schedule of the gov't training groups. I think turn 1 is done.... but we're not going to the PCA race unless turn 5,6 are done and I see pictures!

Any specific reasons?

I hesitate to post this and I am not intending to start a debate, argument, or anything. From the NASA events I've been to, there is too little track time, too many classes with few participants, poorly prepared cars (NASCAR tube chassis with a wet cell battery in the wheel well between the exhaust and tire is an example), and overaggressive driving with minor contact resulting. Not that some or all of that isn't seen in PCA Club Racing, it just doesn't seem to be as prevalent.

NASA is run differently from region to region. Don't let your opinion of one region prevent you from running with another.
