A Sad Day
The trailer just left my house with the Stohr in the hands of its new owner.
I had a lot of fun in that car, learned a lot and grew a lot, as a racer.
I earned a top 10 runoffs finish with 5th or 6th fastest lap. I won a bunch of National races, set some track records and pushed myself further than I imagined I could.
Yesterday I watched the data from the Porsche Spyder seeing how it was only about 10 mph faster in the corners than the Stohr and remembering what an amazing ride it is.
Not sure what is next, but it is likely to be a while as I sort that out.

Bummer. I am a big fan of Lee Stohr's cars, I watched their original build up with great interest on the dsr board because I was designing and building a formula SAE car at the same time. Very cool cars. I noticed the prices on the 1st generation cars has dropped since the newer tunneled cars have come out. At 6'2" I don't know how well I'd fit inside but I'd love to drive one. Seems like they would require a lot of maintenance (compared to a production car). It's going to be hard to find a replacement that provides the same level of performance.

Thanks all. It wasn't that I had to sell it, I just have no time to race for a while and the car was being wasted. Anytime you deliver a car, you start telling the buyer all about it and you get some level of remorse.
As to some of the comments and suggestions - I am in my mid 50's and figure when I hit about 75 I MIGHT start to grow up. Not sure I am cut out for much PCA racing but I may try an event or two. Moto GP is certainly fast, but while I don't want to grow up, I would kind of like to grow old - LOL.
And the Professor - always a great idea. I thought the buyer was a good guy but found out he is friends with the Professor, so all bets are off. OTOH, I have no idea how to fly a plane so that sport might be perfect. I could be slow, off-line and clueless - I should be able to get Citgo to sponsor me with those skills.

Change is good if one is flexible. Congratulations. You'll know what next when it rolls by. Happy Hunting, Mark.
