John -- got ya. ...i was reading your survey as more stout meant 33% more hours work to build the motor (which didn't compute) and I guess you were saying 33% more motor life (?).
Interesting on the rod bolt, were they ARP (or something like that)? What rods/pistons were in your motor?
Not going to MO this weekend.

Yeah the 33% meant more race hours for the motor and the +20% means dollars. It really does come down to the price of the parts given I would not be using all of ones that are still good.

IMHO and experience, the more you do to the engine, "stout" or not, you're probably lowering hours not increasing them before a rebuild. It also depends on what your definition of stout is.... For example, are you going to run stock rods or are you going to Carillo/Pouter rods? Are you already running these rods and want something stouter? Are you achieving hp increases by increasing compression above 12:1? Are you going to make the engine stouter and run a stock ECU or will you run stand alone engine management?
