I'll be there!

George3 07-02-2008 10:37 PM

Great... we'll be running together...

smankow 07-02-2008 10:38 PM

car won't be ready by then.

both mufflers were cracked (right was REALLY bad) and hopefully will be replaced by early next week. Then I have to address the master cylinder/ABS issues.

I'm hoping to be ready for the Schattenbaum event on 7/21-7/22 at Lightning.

Wish I could go, but my DE quota is full and i'm afraid of getting spanked by Streak, now known as Black Streak...... hmm, I remember a pair of FOTL I had in college.... never mind.

Alan Herod 07-02-2008 11:07 PM

Tony and Alan............ Great !!
We're gonna have a Blast !

.

APKhaos 07-02-2008 11:48 PM

George.. is Todd coming with you? If yes, I need to get that seat in the car pronto!

George3 07-03-2008 12:07 AM

Tony,
Todd only goes to select tracks. Since I know Summit well, this is not one of them. If you have time to get the seat in, I'd like to go out with you. I'd like some pointers and check out your DAS.

good hands 07-03-2008 09:34 AM

I'm in. I've already got the pole in the lowly white group...

kurt M 07-03-2008 10:00 AM

I am in and might even spring for a set of real tires now that my pile of old bakelite takeoffs has petered out. last set of new Hoos were O3s. hopefully this will be the last season giving it up on the straights to you HP crutch track hackers. ;) (if I don't run out of $ before its done next season I might have my own HP crutch to hack away with too!)

Alan. sometime over the weekend I would like to take a long look at your 3.6 install.

dan212 07-03-2008 10:24 AM

George -

I'll be there. I only have 4 track days there and have not been there since it was repaved. I'll be in white.

I stayed at the Best Western in Winchester.. Any better suggestions?

See you there again!

daniel (silver GT3)

Hampton Inn, Inwood, WV

George3 07-03-2008 11:37 AM

Hi Dan,
Don't get too excited about the repave. It's probably worse than before they paved it. (Search some of the posts.) I usually stay in Charles Town, because it's reasonably close to the track. You can go from mild to wild re: accomodations. . . Holiday Inn or Town House, etc.
Take care..................... George

Wife in her 964, me in the SC. We stay at the Travel Lodge in Win. Nice clean basic room, at a decent Government rate.

ed devinney 07-03-2008 11:27 PM

Still in DE jail til I find a fricken' job...

datax 07-03-2008 11:52 PM

I'm in blue group here.

Land Jet 07-03-2008 11:57 PM

I'll be there.

George3 07-04-2008 12:55 AM

Potomac put on a nice, 1st class show last weekend at Watkins Glen. A lot of the Rennlisters parked in the Pluto area of the paddock. We all had a blast.

Maybe we can get a Rennlist area for us at Summit Point. Just a thought.

Mikelly 07-04-2008 07:58 AM

I had to cancel for this event, but have signed up for the August event.

Hampton Inn Winchester North, Berryville Rd, Winchester

George3 07-04-2008 09:48 AM

Lots of folks stay in Winchester. It's a bit further of a drive from the track, no?
I always stay at the Holiday Inn Express in Charles Town.
Am I missing out on some excitement down there, or something (??) . . . . :bigbye:

I love this car! 07-04-2008 08:24 PM

Lots of good places to stay in ChuckCity, while Funchester is a little further to drive.......
The "repave", after last winter's sectional replacements has not fared well. Sealer has beed applied to what is left of the line in turns 1, 5, and 6 the last two Fridays, the rippled rutts keep coming apart.....
Still, the rest of the track is doing OK, and a fun track it is. George, hope we can stop by and say "Hi"!

George3 07-04-2008 08:44 PM

Hey, buddy..... How've you been?
You can stop by any time, Martin. Look for my blue GT3, #145.
I'll have a cold one for you both... after the track closes !

Are you driving at this event ??

I would love too, but the Potomac guys want me to run in the green group. It would not much fun for me, suspect it would not be alot of fun for those in the green group as well, not to mention tieing up on of their instructors.......
but we will plan on a visit to sa "hi" to you!

George3 07-04-2008 10:19 PM

Maybe I can go out on a check-out ride with you

Seriously, though... if you haven't run with Potomac before, that's SOP. After a check-out ride you'll be in Red after the first session. Afterall, you are an instructor.

Hey, Alan.... Martin belongs in Red. He is an Instructor.

I love this car! 07-04-2008 10:31 PM

George, I wish that were so, that was not what I was told. It's their event, and I am just (was just) a Potomac region member. I just want to drive and have fun and share good times with others. Some folks, like the great people at RTR, get it, some don't No big deal, I have over 850 track miles on the car so far this year, with more events on the calendar. .......if I could just figure out how to drive it, and move on from the green group some day..........Great pic of your car in turn seven, maybe YOU could take me out on a ride and show me where the track goes!

George3 07-04-2008 10:38 PM

I'd be happy to take you out and show you the DE line.

One good turn deserves another.

Don't give up .

I love this car! 07-04-2008 10:55 PM

You are a good man, my friend. Thank you for the kind words.

Have run with both and all expect some sort of verification before placing in upper run groups. How many DEs have you attended? Who have you instructed with?

Not very exciting, but nice, clean hotels with hot breakfast and close to many restaurants....and closer to the Cork Street Tavern.

This season, Martin has driven the the Black Group as well as instructed with RTR. He will more than hold his own in Potomac's black group.

Sorry, I don't know who your are. I don't know who you have been talking to; but, it is true that if we know nothing about you we follow established procedures. As the people who post here can verify, we have a procedure which is not that unusual. Email me and let me know who you are and who you run with, then we will be able to get it sorted out before the event. It is not too late. There is space in the White and Red run groups.

Email me at dechair@pcapotomac.org

Gary R. 07-05-2008 05:46 PM

Potomac is quite fair in their procedure. They popped me in White and several times I was asked if I wanted to be checked out and officially moved to black. All my buds were in White so I was happy where I was..

...unlike Streak who got out the 1st chance he could!

Steve

I've run in RTR black and instructed too.
BTW RTR asked for verification from Potomac before acceptance

smankow 07-05-2008 10:44 PM

and that's normal protocol.

You are a good friend.......unlike Streak who ditched us all with his pretty new bracelet........:)

smankow 07-06-2008 10:01 AM

is Streak still wearing the bracelet or has he sold it to you for your HOPE chest?

Gary R. 07-06-2008 10:02 AM

Smithsonian has it now....

Streak 07-07-2008 01:27 AM

Actually, I've had it replicated and packaged for sale with my DVD and picture book so the wannabes can wear it and feel like me! It's doing quite well. I'm HUGE in Japan :D

smankow 07-07-2008 08:26 AM

maybe you can sell a copy to Paolo

That explains a lot… thought I saw you in some of those “game shows”… you know where the contestants do real weird things, but all seem to end up in the mud…

that sounds like the Dorki paddock too... No matter what someone ends up in the mud under a car cussing and hitting something with a dirty wrench.
