WWII Veterans get a free ride to DC Memorial. Please pass this on.
I had lunch on Saturday in Washington, DC with 700 of the best this country has ever produced: WWII vets.
Honor Flights provides free trips to the veteran memorials in DC for WWII and terminally ill veterans. If you know a vet who would like to go, please make them aware of this opportunity--and hurry, because we are losing them at rate of ~1,200 per day. Check out NBC Nightly News this Friday for more info.
If you every want to donate either time or money (or both) to show your appreciation, please consider this group. I volunteered to be a “Guardian” and it was an amazing experience. Sharing lunch with a guy who went up Mt. Suribachi, getting a wheelchair for a WWII vet who wanted to find his son's name on the wall of the Vietnam Memorial...
Like the bumper sticker says, "If you can read this, thank a teacher. If you can read it in English, thank a World War II veteran before it is too late."
(No affiliation, yada, yada.)
