Cool

In preparing for the Feb 9-10 Yippy Skippy DE, I ran across that TWS CW video on the Trackmate website last night, too. I've never driven TWS clockwise, so if anyone can tell me how well the driver's line matches the line prescribed in the materials Richard sent out, I'd much appreciate it.

Make sure that your brakes are in good shape, because you'll need them coming off of the front straight into 15-14-13.

Also note that you'll be going much faster at the end of the front straight as well, because of the extra acceleration time during 2-1. Maybe as much as 10-15 mph faster than if you were going CCW.

I really like going CW. The track just seems to "flow" nicely. 7 isn't as much of a butt-pucker as it is going CCW, and 2-1 is just a big wide acceleration zone compared to the nice 4-wheel drift at the exit of 2 that you can do going CCW.

Seems like the carousel (11 through 10) would definitely flow faster CW than the usual direction.

But it does seem like its going to require some extra nerve to dive into the braking zone going into 15 at a higher rate of speed off the front straight.

I'm really looking forward to it.

Thanks for the advice. The video showed orange pylons at the end of the straight where the pit exit and straight meet at turn 15. I'm assuming we will have something similar. It looks considerably more "interesting" than the pit exit at turn 1 when going CCW.

Those pylons are there to keep you off of the oval and to urge you to go down into 15.

However, the escape route, if you have a code brown moment and you can't make 15, is to plow through the pylons and go onto the oval.

And the other pylons are to keep traffic high & away from the track-out area, since it is 100% blind.

Cool

Threading the needle between those pylons oughta be a piece of cake for us city slickers, since we spend so much time driving through construction zones. I thought we were supposed to forget everything we knew about driving on the street!

I would expect that LSRPCA will have an instructor at least available for all cars for the first session.

You can enter the carousel faster CCW, but exit faster CW. Can't say I've ever had a preference, though I like the feeling of getting the CCW exit right.

Basically, you can go as fast into turn 1/15, either direction, but it's definitely a mental issue, then a braking/downshift issue CW! Be VERY gentle on your tranny. Lots of lockups happen there, BTDT. For the DE, I would suggest just braking on the banking, unless an advanced student. For racing, you either do what the person in front of you does, or have tons of faith that you can race them very closely. It's a great place to outbrake someone, but you both need to be dead on.

My brain farts tend to be in what is CCW T6 & T4. Pay attention, or you'll find yourself going WAY too fast.

I got confirmations that ClearTech Pro and Motul will be definitely coming to sponsor this track event. The Motul guy is coming from Ft Worth and staying the nite. He will be a sponsor for the BBQ, giving some brake tech tips for the braking school, and bringing out a showcase of Motul products. Steven from ClearTech is giving $50 off all clearbra work for PCA members

... but where is the work actually done?

At TWS during the DE, or in Houston at a later date?

I would assume the latter
