Default DVD camcorder for track days?

I'm planning to cash in points from my Sonycard for a digital camcorder. I can choose miniDV tape or DVD format recording medium. It will be used for other things in addition to DE track days. My concern is the DVD unit being more susceptible to vibration.

Has anyone tried a DVD format camcorder for in-car track day recording?

Stick with the MiniDV...a search will reveal many discussion on this. I use a Sony MiniDV that works perfectly, and the image stabilization comes in handy on the track.

The time you spend getting it on the computer will be worth it because the vibration is much better with MiniDV.

Go with a Mini HDV camcorder - my Sony is great and it's awesome replaying my DEs in HD.

this kind of stuff gets cheaper every year, do not neglect a solid state solution which is more reliable long term. The trasnsfer rate of swapping SD cards is as good as walking a tape across the machine room floor
