BTW, what's the best route to Summit Point from northern Jersey (bergen county)? I've seen two different routes -- I-78 to I-81 or Turnpike to I-70. Any suggestions on which one I should take? Thanks!

Big Congrats to Doug (Jamie will be a fun uncle).

I 78 to I81 for Fuenfer.

And, I had to cancel SP. If we're ready for WGI, we'll see you all 'round the paddock.

Thanks for the driving direction advice, guys.

Weather.com reports that we'll be experiencing thunderstorms on Monday and Tuesday. I welcome the opportunity to drive in the rain -- any tips for a first-timer at this particular track?

Stay way to the left entering turn 1 and keep unwinding from the apex all the way through turn two. . Brake at the first road at turn 3 and turn in at the second road and track out all the way to the painted lines. Lift, no brake for turn 4. Enter turn 5 in the middle and follow the concrete patch and don't worry about getting to the outside to enter the carousel for 6 and 7. A late seven with no track out sets up eight. Eight is late with no track out--there's a painted box on the ground for the turn in, and you have to get right into the apex at turn 9 and get on the gas hard before the apex as you go down hill. Stay in the middle of the short straight as you go under the bridge becuase the track will come back to you. I can't do the last right turn worth a damn so I can't help as you get back to the front straight.

And if it's raining, get atleast a car width off the line everywhere. Try the sweepers on the outside of the road, like LRP, perhaps and note the downhill brake zones become exciting.

Oh, and take the track walk if Miriam offers. Always.

Just make sure your cooler has wheels and is fully stocked beforehand...

Not leaving from Bergen County, but from Morris County I take the I-287 to I-78 to I-81 route.

Hey, it is "30% chance of scattered thunderstorms", so lets be a bit more positive!

Summit is very slippery when wet. There is no grip anywhere in turn 3, and you have to stay off the sealer in the carousel. (turns 5-6-6a-7) Water will pool along the inside of the carousel, and there tends to be a stream across 8. The concrete patches dont offer much grip in the rain. Best advice is to do a rain dance, pack the rain gear and hopefully that way it will skip over you. If it does rain youll learn a lot about skid management.

I signed up really late for this event, and though I got confirmation from Pete that I'm in, I didn't get any sort of confirmation packet or information as to when to be at the track. I'm hoping there are people who haven't left yet that can provide me with the relevant information! Thank you!

Good luck Doug! Hope to see you next season.

Jamie; It's a scary thought when I think of a small child calling out Uncle Jamie.

Hope to see you at one of the Glen events in October.

Enjoy SP.

Doug, If you get away with going to the Glen with a 3 week old at home, you're married to a saint.

Great event! Dry on Monday, rain practice today for some. Lots of run time with three run groups. It was good to see some old friends and to meet fuenfer at the event.
