Default RSR at Mont Tremblant Aug 17-19

We just got back from a great weekend at Mont Tremblant with the Rennsport Region PCA. This was my first time to the track and I thought it was a great track and wish I had more time to spend working on some of the more challenging sections of the track. The RSR DE program must be very good because as a group, these were the fastest drivers I've been with at a DE, and most of them were in very well driven street cars. There was a lot of nice equipment there, a number of 997 GT3 RS, a Carrera GT, and even a 997RSR.

The only downside is the "war" as they called it with the town and the noise compliance requirements. Even with 4 mufflers on my car I could not pass noise and had to short shift and not use full throttle on the second day. There were several completely stock 997 GT3s that were over the limit as well, and there is no margin...too loud = no drive.

I can't think of a more fun event, running nose to tail with Savenor, Burger, Scotto, Westerduin, lap after lap.

996 GT3s did not have any problems passing sound. The low hanging clouds on Sat. didn't help.

All five colors of the 997 GT3 RS were there, approx. 15 996 GT3s, about 5 997 GT3s, Carrera GT, 993 GT2 racecar and of course the 997 GT3 RSR.

It was also a blast watching you guys chasing eachother like cat and mouse. You guys have wiked cars. Since I haven't attended events from other region, I don't really know any better but it's nice to ear from others that RSR can put up great events.

Had a great time meeting some of you.

Do you know if the photographer at the track has a website that posts pictures of the event?

Thanks to all who came. The weather cooperated nicely too. The noise issue is a problem, although not unique to LCMT. The City filed a lawsuit against the track. The case was setled. The morons who bought or built homes within a few hundred feet (yes, feet) of the track were not happy, they waned it closed so they could flip their homes for a big profit. Now they are trying to build a case based on allegations that the track is not respecting the terms of the settlement. The result is a zero tolerance on noise, hours of operation etc.

Sunday was better for noise, less wind and only one car was black flagged for exceeding the limit, a local 993 race car. One of the 997 GT3s nailed for noise had after-market headers and exhaust. The unmodified ones had no problems. The 997 RS all passed with a good margin. The lesson is don't modify the exhaust if you want to play at LCMT or Lime Rock. Both use the same criteria.

Ron - I took your student yesterday afternoon for a run - nice job. He was going well. Carm took him later and they enjoyed their runs.

Thanks to all 140 drivers for 3 days of incident free fun.

Best,

Wow 140 cars going around the track for 3 days.... Humm thats like 16,800 laps at an average of 10 laps per session. We also got to raise 5500$ for a terrific charity.

I don't, but maybe Ronnie does.

I took a look at the pictures in the link posted above, but they don't look like the ones the track photographer was taking. Does anyone have a link to those?

Best,
Ron your student and I got his 924S to move along on the track enough to get a big smile on his face at the end of the run. Collectively I think we have him on the right track

Yeah but don't forget Carm, you're also half Ron's size. No wonder he had a big smile on his face

Default LCMT - first event with my 993

This was my first event with my new (to me) 993. Had done 2 previously in a 924S and wanted to get back into it, take it nice and slow, and have a great time with my new car - mission accomplished!

Highlight of the weekend: Rob Martin as an instructor. What a fine teacher (and driver). Plus his and Barbara's hospitality - that's how you build club spirit and forge new friendships.

Favourite on track moment: Waving Geoffey and the rest of the Cup cars by... on the Green run!!!

Geoff, I was the green bracelet waving the pass after the warm up lap. Man that was hilarious - you must have wondered what was up with the idiot in the silver 993 driving so SLOOOOOOOOW. I knew there had to be a mistake when I heard/saw your group in the rearview warming your tires behind me. All in good fun - I regret not introducing myself and meeting you personally. Maybe next year?

I'm hooked, as I knew I'd be. I see 3 events in my future for 2008!

Cheers~!

Matt
