I think they executed the Teflaun Safety Administrator last week for taking bribes from Thomas the Train...

Interesting. I have the Elephant Poly Bronze in the front of my car (Have for about 4 years). I can't remember the last time I lubed them, however, I will this weekend before my next track event.

China bearings are only part of the crap that gets imported here but really isn't this wear a charactoristic of all monoballs? My understanding of them is that they are unsealed, exposed to plenty of dirt (weather sealed of not). I thought that monoballs were just a wear item. is there any consensus to how long or how many seasons you can get on these?

The ones in the picture had the weather seals...

I'm guessing I'm sticking to my urethane busings for now. They seem to have worked good for years.

There are monoballs, and then there are monoballs.

Like people, some are good and some aren't and one should be careful about about what to use (or who you associate with). Unlike people, you get what you pay for and the good ones are NOT cheap.

Cheap monoballs (spherical bearings-rod ends) do not hold up very well but good ones last a long time. The longevity of these things is all about environment conditions and how much dirt these get exposed to sp thats a big variable.

One can use rubber boots to seal rod ends and extend their life and a product called "Seals it" for spherical bearings. Both products really make a difference.

Although not inexpensive, the very best are NMB-NMBB and these are made in the UK. This is all I've used for the past 25+ years and I've really had good luck.

To add to Steve's sound advice, spherical bearing companies offer many different grades on monoball or spherical bearings. Aurora, for example, offer all under the sun. Good ones are pricey and so on.

For racecar suspension, we offer a -good- rod end / spherical bearing for all suspension, pushrods, load cells etc. that we sell. Many of our teams pitch-em and go with NMBB, Gold Line or Aurora's higher end lines. The teams that upgrade, dont do it necessarily for life, but rather fit and function since suspension on an open-wheel car tends to have a rather short life

Thank you for your replys. When shoping for monoballs besides going with NMBB (a brand like SKF I guess) is the problem of fast wear due to manufacturer's claims of having a monoball of a certain hardness and tolerances that are industry standard but not really achieved (often with china bearings)or is the problem actually that these companies are manufacturing to an inferior spec for the aplication like using a 8.8 class bolt when you need a 10.9 in order to offer a cheaper price?
