Default gassing up a trailered car?

I know someone is going to have something real funny to say, but please have mercy.

I cannot think of any reason why I should not gas my track car at the gas station while it is trailered. I've never seen anyone do that, but it should be fine. However, I don't want to find out the hard way (kaboom!) that it is a stupid move for reason X that I didn't think of. So that's my question. Ok to gas it up while trailered?

So do I. Usually at the last gas stop before I get to the track.....in the hopes that I'll save $0.03/gallon

I've done it many times with my car, no problems. Its also standard procedure with trailered boats.

Landscapers do the same with their mowers.

It's more fun to pull the car off the trailer, spin a few donuts, fill up then leave.

I would if I could find a station that sold race gas that wasn't at the track.

Default Static electricity

Is there a concern about static electricity building up and a spark igniting the gasoline when the fuel nozzle comes near the gas neck on the car? One thing is for sure, I am no electrical engineer. I think my dad is the one who told me this so it could be totally wrong. I always make sure that a chain barely drags the ground on the trailer (not the safety chain). It will hit the ground every once in a while and discharge static electricity (or so I am told). I also touch the car and touch the trailer to discharge any electricity held by the car on top of the trailer before filling it with gas. This may all be worthless but it makes me feel better....

That's the tough part and it's easier with an open trailer...

I did until I got an enclosed trailer, now I haven't found a way to get the filler nozzle into the trailer where the car is.

Hacker-Pschorr:
I think I will try to investigate having you banned for having that you tube link on your posts. I clicked on it, passed out from the horror of it all, and then started convulsing and hit my head on the entertainment center. That is just wrong, very very wrong.

MUCH easier if your trailer has a driver side escape door:
