Porsches on Ice!
Hi Folks,
The Rocky Mountain Region PCA held the 2nd annual "Eiskhana" on Sunday, February 10, 2002 at Georgetown, Colorado. A course was laid out on the frozen lake and participants were timed on 2 runs each. Categories included Porsche/non-Porsche with 2WD/4WD and studs/non-studs.
Several 911s (1967 to 1996), a few 944/968s, and one 914 represented Porsche, with various Audis, one BMW 5 series, a Range Rover, a Tahoe, and a 4WD Mitsubishi Colt (I think) also competing. The last vehicle was an ice-racer special, with low-pressure studded tires that gave it incredible grip, especially compared to the all-season and summer tires on man of the cars.
In all it was great fun, and if you ever get the chance to drive your Porsche on a frozen lake, go for it! For more images, visit my site and look in the Driving section. Videos should be available in a day or so.
