Fuel Injection Rev limitis methods
Here's a question for you gurus:
Besides cutting fuel, what methods are employed to limit revs in fuel injection systems? I've heard that just cutting the fuel can lead to leaning out the mixture with bad consequences. Pointers to sources of information on this topic would be appreciated.
I'm in the very early stages of "hacking" the code in the Motronic DME in my '86 Carrera.
thanks,
Chris

FWIW...The Motec in my car can be configured to cut fuel only, ignition only, ignition then fuel, fuel then igntion, or cut both at the same time. I have it set to cut the ignition then fuel. Id be interested in hearing how you are hacking the Motronic EFI unit, that sounds pretty interesting.

I'm no expert, but I think you're right about the fuel cut off. With everyone concerned about lean running engines and blown motors, an ignition cut off system such as the MSD 6AL works well, plus has the benefits of what RPM you want it to cut out at, boost retard, a smoother running, bigger spark, etc...lots of options for not a whole lot of money.
IMHO.
