I don't know about you guys, but the money does seem to be attracting a higher caliber driver than the good 'ol days of the good 'ol boys. JPM, Said, Hornish in the future, the Motox riders, etc. Just my observation.

Boris has already raced on the NASCAR road courses. IIRC, he almost won the Glen last year.

Boris has been a hired gun for the road course races for quit some time. You can also add Ron Fellows, Scott Pruett, and others to that list as well.
Boris also got a pole in a Cup race last year.

Go 'merica. ***k yeah!
I like NASCAR and I watch pretty frequently. I have to say that race was really great and I bet it was a treat to watch the finish in the front stretch grandstands.

Two thoughts on this thread.
First, one of the folks who drove at the October Club Race said it best:
NASCAR drivers may not be the best in the world, but they have the biggest *****.
Two, the first foreign manufacturer to win a championship in NASCAR. See Excellence from a few months ago for a story about 911's in NASCAR, even on DIRT!

Interesting thread. I live and grew up in the south (10 miles from Bristol). I actually started watching Nascar when everyone was complaining about Gordon winning all the races. I was and am a hardcore sports car and to a lessr degree, F1 fan.
Nascar fans didn't realize how good Gordon was and he was the 1st of the "new breed aka non-good ole boy" racer. I do believe the talent has improved dramatically in the last 10 years.
As I've gotten to know Sports Car racers from PDE; Panoz and Grand-Am, they will tell you that the top Nascar drivers are as good as any racer in the world, with the possible exclusion of Schummy at his peak. They will also tell you the Dale, Sr was the best and Dale, Jr has tons of talent to go with the name.
To be critical of Nascar drivers is ridiculous (and I've done it). Anyone who thinks that the Nascar drivers are not talented are way off base. Let them take your car from a spin on your favorite track and they'll dispell all of our excuses for not getting more out of the car.
