Fuel cell for 968 ~ Advice needed
 

Does anyone on the board have a recommendation for fuel cells for 968's? I'd rather not use one of the spare wheel well bladders as we run closed road events that mandate carrying a spare wheel and would also like more capacity than 12 Gal. Even comments on the respective merits of different brands in general would be helpful. Thanks,

I remember to have seen an company making a special fuel cell for our beloved 968's
It was quite expensive and from my point of view not really necessary as the stock one is large and light
Maybe by regulations of your track event organizer it is mandatory but it is better to spend money on more usefull stuff

I think the decision about a fuel cell is made by the level of racing you reach, not by the cost of the cell. Once you get to GT classes, the risk of a serious incident is great enough to warrant the fuel cell for safety. The stock tank is just that, and made of plastic which will deform at some impacts but split at others. If fuel leaks out, and enough vapor accumulates, then an explosion results. Fuel cells have a can resistant to a certain force before they split, but more importantly they have a liner even more resistant to splitting. Inside, foam controls any vapors to reduce the risk of explosion. If you're trying to get 400 horsepower from a racing 944/968 series car, I think you should consider a fuel cell for safety. IMHO.
