If your trailer is a gooseneck, or fifth wheel, where it mounts on the bed of your truck, then a dualie would be advantageous. Don't get all set on dualies; they cost a lot more, more of a hassle to check tires/fix flats. If your trailer mounts on a regular bumper type hitch, a regular axle will be just fine.

Damn, what happened to the good ol' days of just driving the car to the track?
What in the hell are we all thinking!!
I remember at my first DE I was in a hurry to get home, I just drove off the trick and right home.....

So I sell my 96 'burban with 203K miles and buy a 2002 model. At the dealer, as we're picking it up and getting the grand tour of the onstar system, the wife decides that she should drive it everyday and I should get her 2002 yuppie Trailerblazer. Now, I'm all excited at the prospect of driving the 'burban do work everyday and not too excited at driving the yuppie suv. A month later, as I'm growing accustomed to my yuppie suv, I show my wife a picture of a F250 Superduty Crewcab (with the diesel of course) and ask "if I would have bought this, would you have asked to drive it everyday"..."oh,no, it's ugly" she says. Crap, should've gotten the Ford. Buy the dualie Bill

I like the "mid size" Toyota Tundra V8 a lot as long as it will do the job. I put it to the test of pulling the loaded trailer, braking... and the truck did great. I may need a little more power to get up the hills to Watkins Glen and Pocono. Toyota Racing just came out with a factory supercharger for the V8. I had this on my V6. about 120 hp for under $5K.

Yes, you are correct. But the single rear wheel seemed to pull your trailer just fine, dont you think!!
I actually drove both. The 250 diesel single rear wheel was my choice. The long wheel base / dualie version would be a bear to drive in a parking lot, etc..
See you
