Post Wahoo - Le Mans on DVD

Just got an email that Paramount is releasing Le Mans on DVD at the end of April. Will be interesting to see if they put any of the reels and reels of racing footage that they didn't use in the final cut on the DVD.

Anyone got anymore details?

Has it been remastered, are there any DVD extras?

If it's just a VHS transfer to DVD it's probably not worth it (I have a VHS tape) but if it's all cleaned up and lovely...
If there's additional footage, a McQueen bio, a making of etc <img border="0" alt="[jumper]" title="" src="graemlins/jumper.gif" /> <img border="0" alt="[jumper]" title="" src="graemlins/jumper.gif" />

After getting the email from Amazon, I went to the Paramount web site, and they had no information on the DVD, although their upcoming releases list only goes through mid-March.

Actually, I watched it about a month or so ago on TCM and while I wanted to have it on DVD, what I really want is to see it in the theater - on an IMAX would be even better!

Thanks Bill, I'll keep an eye on the Paramount site.
I really hope they do a proper job on the DVD release and give us the stunning picture that's possible on the format. A Dolby Digital/DTS soundtrack would be great as well... just think 917 vs 512 in Dolby Digital... FANTASTIC.

Yes Mike, I have "A French Kiss with Death", it's a superb book and makes the perfect companion to the film.

This reminds me that they were making another film at Le Mans last year (I was lucky enough to be there) using 2 specially entered cars, a Lola/Judd and a Panoz LMP1.

The film was to be about a French cartoon character called Michel Vaillant competing at the 2002 Le Mans 24Hr race. I suspect he'll win.

The director Luc Besson of "5th Element" fame even waved the flag to start the race.
I did a quick web search and turned up this site.... <a href="http://michelvaillant.free.fr/lefilm.htm" target="_blank">http://michelvaillant.free.fr/lefilm.htm</a>

If only my French was better!

Could be worth tracking down if/when it gets to DVD.

Mark
