Has anyone run the Hoosier Radial Wets? Comments?
Any comparison to the Dirt Stockers.
Thanks!

Cool

I ran them once before they encountered an unfortunate end with a nail... took out 2 tires. They did perform amazingly well in the rain. They did wear quite rapidly though, probably due to the deep tread.

A customer of mine used them this year at Summit Point on his SCCA ITE 951. In the rain he was smoking the field, by the time he turned into turn 1 he still could not see anyone behind him on the front straight! This includes the GT1 cars which are much quicker then him in the dry.

He loves them and will continue to use them.

Thanks for the input. Looks like I'll get a set in the Spring.

Hell, I didn't even know they made them. I use dirt stockers on my ITS 944, and they are pretty good. Where do you find the real rain tires? I was at St Louis a week and a half ago, and ran the SCCA Regional, and I didn't see them at the Hoosier guy's place.

Bill,
Check Hoosier's web site.
Tirerack also shows them, but with no size or price. They must be special order.

I have not run the rain tires but at Road America, the Hooiser guy told me they hand grove the DOT race tire to make "Rains". hence the special order...

Supposedly they're a different compound than a standard hoosier (i.e. softer)and thet are ahnd grooved.
NOTE: NOT "DOT" approved. Check with your sanctioning organization to see if they're legal.
