limited slip track benefits
#16
Damn Bill, why did you have to go and ask this question? Now I want one too!! And I just spent all my money on PSS-9 and seats, roll bar, harnesses etc. so I could run in my Production class. DOH!!
I'm heading to Streets of Willow (with POC) this weekend to try out all the new gear. What excuse can I tell the wife to get the LSD in by next month? Is a LSD really good for a couple seconds on a short track like Willow? I'm hoping the PSS-9's and being strapped into the car a little better (nothing like stock seats and belts to enhance the on-track experience) in my daily driver 993.
Cheers,
Dylan.

Bill:
When I had my 996 w/o a ltd slip, EJ would pull away from me out of Oak Tree. This even when he is down 35 or so HP and also 300lbs heavier.
Huge difference.

Good to hear from you Chris, Thanks for your input. I had no idea. LSD is in the car by now as well as all the other tweeks we had lined up. Hope to swap some rubber with you soon...
I heard about your mechanical failure at Viper Days. Hope it was not too serious. You are way too quick not to be "on track". See you soon.

Bill:
I should be underway soon. The engine is out, but in good hands, and as Karl said there is a silver lining in every cloud. Or put more bluntly since I am already tearing it down, whats another few bills to get the HP where it needs to be - over 350!!. DOH!

Walczak........you dont need a "stinkin limited slip".... .you old "sandbagger"....Just floor it thru turn 10 and use the grassy edge after the turtles as the trackout point! LOL
I saw the 2002 FORD Lighting 5.4liter Supercharged 400+HP engine "you're people" are trying to camouflage, disguise and shoehorn in your 993 RS. You should be ashamed. Since your in the boat business you could have been "atleast loyal" and stuffed a Mercruiser 500 cubic inch Bravo Magnum in there.
As your C stock wingman I wont turn you in.......but when you start snapping CV joints left & right and forcin a full course yellow............ and / or "lifting your front-end down down the straights.....like Jeg Coughlin in his NHRA Prostock"....the PCA clubrace "revenuers will be lookin for you"!!!
See you next week at Summit Point....Ill be runnin Nitropropane. <img src="graemlins/icon107.gif" border="0" alt="[icon107]" />

Three Wheelin'
I am in the process of putting one in my 944 race car. I spin the tires at Memphis, St. Louis and Daytona. I know I need one, and have less than half the hp you have. I have talked to a million people about this, and they almost all say that the Porsche unit is lots better than the Quaife. Most say the Quaife unloads too early. I bought mine for $300, but I know you will never find one for a 993 for anywhere near that price. You might try PAP in Atlanta, their phone is 1-800-944-2964. If you use the Porsche unit, I am told you have to use different thickness clutches to raise the lockup beyond the stock 40%.
Lotsa luck,
Bill

Joe, The Scrutineers will be by your trailer with the portable dyno and scales Thursday morning. There is some concern about your wheelstands at pit out.

Walczak........you southern boys and West Virgina boys are slicker than us 'Nawtherners er Yankee carpetbaggers'.....those "revenuers" have been alookin' for Walzcak family still(s) for years and still havent found sheee-it! LOL
In your own words you might say something like thissy here: Joey--- " what makes you think them scrutineers boys-- will find a camouflaged smallblock FORD engine in the 911. Them scrutineer boys arent dat bright. I hide me alot tougher stuff than that for many a year!!!!
Youre a beauty! <img src="graemlins/icon107.gif" border="0" alt="[icon107]" />
