Thumbs up Lime Rock/ CVR Club Race

CVR posted the race results quicker than I could drive from Ct to Md! Great event. Good news I dropped my quickest race lap to 1:02:02. Bad new other C car (only 2) was cracking 1:01 consistantly. Anyway I had a ball. CVR did a wonderful job as uasual!

Great Job, Bill!

Looks like D class fielded a good group of drivers.

Congratulations to Karl Poetl from Racers Edge (sold me the suspension for my 944)

I heard that it was his first time at Lime Rock and he came in second in class with his "F" 944 S2, and had the fastest lap in his race with the "E" cars, breaking 1:02 (101.960) for the fastest lap of the race!

Breaking 1:02 in a F car is impressive enough but first time at Lime Rock? That is not a easy place to get hooked up.

3 "G" cars running in the mid 1:02's. Congrats to Drew Brown who won G. Great Race!

Funny thing about those fast G cars: when I was planning my path into racing, I figured from the way the groups were designed that G would be a category where I could run a 911 without breaking the bank or necessarily lapping at extreme speeds. Come to find out, however, that fast in G would be fast in just about any other letter group.
I had a great time in this my debut race, but my 1:05s left me well back in the pack. A fantastic start gained me several places, before a pair of car control lapses *ahem* put me last in G!

Irrespective of the finish, racing _is_ a lot of fun...

Good to meet you Bill!

Brandon,

Good to meet you and your Bride as well!

Lime Rock was my 10th race in 12 months and I started very green. This is very much like my running career in marathons and 10K's. I show up at a small event without much competition in my age group and I will place. Same thing with Club Racing. I got a 1st, 2nd and one third. Out of all those only once was there a C car behind me. Watkins Glen, Sebring... all the fast people show up and I am a also ran. No less exciting for me. Get better, get faster and become more comfortable with the racing coexisting. 1:04+ in '02 and 1:02:0 in '03. That is great. Keep in mind a better driver could turn 1:01 in my car so I still have home work to study. If it were easy it would not be fun. I only race the car directly in front of me. One at a time try to methodically claw my way up the field without contact.

Thanks for the encouragement. Part of my problem was that I was so excited I wanted to try everything at once. I was so thrilled at executing a drafting pass on the main straight I missed my braking point and gave it all back... Earlier so busy with my mirrors I missed my turn in at west bend. So experience at managing all the sensory inputs will help, as well as just calming down.

10 races in 12 mos. is enviable. I'm planning just 3 in '03, four if I can do both sprint and enduro at Mosport.

Well Bill spoke up, but I would like to add my usual plea to folks out there in internet land: If anybody has photos of my car in the Lime Rock race I would love to see them. Even if I'm not in them

BTW, thanks to all the volunteers who allowed us to have fun last weekend.

If I did this correctly page 5 & 6 are Lime Rock Pics. Cris your car is the last pic and on page 5 you are attending a pep rally before qualifying
