Post Remember that Civic that kicked my butt?

Well, things have changed in today's DE event. I believe the green Civic has stayed with the same set up; EuroSpec Civic engine, open exhaust, springs, slicks, maybe a trick cam. That same car outran my 996 with MXX3's and stock suspension last October. Now that I have RoW M030's and Hoosier's, I've cut about 5-7 seconds off a lap, and now I'm smoking the Civic, as well as the M3, and the Corvette. Wha'? Why am I even tooting this horn? C'mon, it's a CIVIC ferchrissakes! Well, just thought I'd let some of us know that a little tweak on an already fast car does wonders.

Well although making a fast car faster is all well and good (i'm not knocking you, and really I'm happy for the improvements, watching lap times drop is a great thing). But I am actually really impressed at how fast some of these guys can make civics and VW golfs go. Driver skill and and a well set up car can make up a lot of lap time.

Well said well spoken. There was a Miata Turbo, and Mitsubishi VR4 that hauled #$@. They were at least 4 seconds faster than me. Then again, they had no weight in them except for sheetmetal and the driver. Better drivers, I might add.

Want to talk about car set up and driver skill (or lack therof) How about being passed by a Mini Cooper S in the back section of Roebling Road. I could take him on the straight but in the turns he would be all over me in a 944na ITS car. <img src="graemlins/c.gif" border="0" alt="[ouch]" />

Saw the new mini-cooper s at the NY Auto Show and have been seriously thinking about selling my '01 Jetta VR-6 for the last 4 weeks. I REALLY like that little "S".
