Sorry if it's a repost:

I realize that driver skills are all important, but still, that's one fast bus!

Well...to be fair, the only "bus" part about that thing is the body....
Even so, they did a great job building it and I can't imagine the looks on the sport car drivers faces when it blows past them...

I saw this a few months back, but it's still impressive to see the bus pull the GT3 and Austin Martin going up Eau Rouge.

I've seen the GT3 beaten by old Civics, Elises, M3, vert vettes, old 911 at my track events. A VW bus with a 993TT drivetrain doesn't surprise me either.

that is VERY cool! what a trick ride. i bet you could fun putting all sorts of shells over that chassis.
One day it could be an icecream truck, then a PGE van, then a taxi cab, etc.

yeah, it's fun.
The laptime of the bus is around 3:05, or just a little bit faster than a spec 944. Our car (full race 951 with 350 crank hp) does about 2:45 at that track, and GT3's are a little below that, with GT3R's being way below that (around 2:30). So, compared to laptimes of racers, the bus is not that hot. But doing it on Spa with those great twisties, is quite an achievement for the bus....it must shift quite a bit of weight in corners like Eau Rouge and Pouhon.
So, the driver does matter. But the fun factor of driving around all those supposedly faster cars in a bus, must be absolutely fantastic....
