MSD allowed in ITS?
A month or two I made some postings about using a 911 in ITS. Well, I finally got a car! Its a 1972 911T. I need to convert it back to MFI and clean up some small rust spots, but it is a fun car so far!
It came with an MSD unit that looks like brand new. I read that IT doesn't allow Crankfire, but is MSD ok?
Also, what class would this be for PCA racing, and is MSD ok with them?
I don't want to put something on and then take it off when I am ready to build the race car,
thanks,

Yes, IIRC you can run a different ignition box as long as you continue to use the distributor for spark triggering and for spark distribution.
The 944's got a leg up, in that it already is a crankfire car; therefore you can use a different crankfire ignition system (though you still have to use the distributor, as above).

what is IIRC? Is that the PCA class?
If so do you mean the MSD can be used in IIRC or ITS or both? I just want to be very clear before I mess with the car, thanks,
Jason

IIRC = If I recall recorrectly
I concur with Vaughan's interpretation of the rule.
Congratulations on the 911. It should make for a good ITS in the right hands.
