Mosport race - anything nearby for families?
I'm thinking of taking my family with me to the PCA race at Mosport - is there anything in the area for the family to do while I'm on the track? Any recommendations on lodging?
Thanks much,
Rick

I think one of the best family resources in the area for daytime family activities, fairly accessible from Mosport, is the Toronto Zoo:
http://www.torontozoo.com/
In town (Bowmanville), there are two hotels, the Port Darlington (905-623-4925), usually quite booked on club race weekend, and the Howard Johnson's (905-623-3373 or 888-468-3509).
Others, with which I don't have personal experience, are
Idle Inn Bed & Breakfast Retreat, 37 King St. E., Millbrook (705 932-5173). Attention:
Ralph Plaskett. Rates from $65/night. (20 minutes from the track).

I second the Zoo, as many of my friends who have kids tell me that works while at Mosport. There are signs for many other tourist attractions, some related to the nearby lake, but I don't have any experience with them.
I would think about staying at the Holiday Inn in Oshawa, which is about 25 mins from the track. It is a full Holiday Inn with indoor and outdoor pools, game room, restaurant, bar, etc., so the kids could enjoy hanging out there too. http://www.ichotelsgroup.com/h/d/hi/1/en/hd/yosot?irs=y

restaurant, shopping, plus the really cool "needle"- all in toronto.... about 30+/- min drive
the glass floor on the 'dish' part of the needle is quite a view... look straight down at the sidewalk, way way down...
