Regarding some questions about Ross Bentley's seminar:
1. I will find out how much he charged us to present.
2. I will have more contact information for those who asked soon - hopefully Monday.
3. I wish to ask the folks at Speed Secrets to see if it is ok to give out copies of the presentation - I was given permission to record the talks, but I want to make sure it's ok to give copies to friends.

One thing I would try is to be later in 6.
I a corner name type guy so I'm not sure if we are talking Outter Loop or Laces.
I don’t brake at all for the Outer loop if I get it right. Just squrt 4th, sail it in breath the gas and turn it. If the front tires are starting to give up then I use some brake for a little weight on the front. Maybe a place to stay on gas a little longer and use brake? Sure could try it. Also a great place to work on left foot skill!
As far as the Laces I’m sure your right. I’m not the greatest on the bakes anyway and with other setup changed to overcome bigger problems we have made brake bias in down hill zones problematic. (See Summit Pt spin video in my earlier post) The good news is I headed to Eurotech today to decal the car and look at my new 6 pot front brakes!! Of course now I have no excuse for Cups out braking me except lack of talent.

I have spent more time in rear engine cars but I have also driven mid-engine and front engine cars on the track.
With that said, the answer is that it depends on the car and it's weight distribution and setup but... Front engine cars do tend to understeer because they have more mass in the nose. A mustang is a better example than say a 944 due to the water pumpers excellent weight distribution. The mustang has a boat anchor up front and nothing in the rear.
Therefore, overcoming inertia at turn-in is diffuclt due to the extra mass in the nose. It wants to continue going straight. To counter that effect you have to dramatically increase the contact patch by transferring weight (trailbraking).
The opposite has been proven to be true in early 911s. They tend to oversteer (the newer cars don't do that due to balance issues and particularly setup) and therefore need little trailbraking.

As a followup, I just heard back from the folks at Speed Secrets. They wish that I do not distrubute the taping of the NNJR PCA instructor's workshop/advanced driver's seminar where Ross Bentley was the guest speaker.
However, here is some more information, including pricing, regarding the coaching services that Speed Secrets offers:
As stated before, if you want further information, please contact Ryan McCallen directly at Speed Secrets:
email: ryan.mccallen@speedsecrets.com
phone: 877-773-3310 ext. 109
website: www.speedsecrets.com
You can contact Ryan for information of seminars as well. Contact your region's track chairs and program chairs - Ross Bentley is an excellent speaker and knows his stuff. Plus his level of enthusiasm captures the essence of what being a 'track enthusiast' is all about.

In our experience coaching drivers on virtually every level, one of the commonalities that we see is drivers who don’t know what they don’t know. In other words, if we were to ask most drivers what they need to focus on this season to improve their lap times, the reality is that most of them wouldn’t know. As a result they continue to do what they have always done and continue to get the same results. It is for these drivers that the Speed Secrets Driver Assessment was created. We like to think of this as the “diagnosis” for the areas that drivers need to focus on that will lead to finding that hundredth, tenth or even a second or more that they have been looking for. The service will start with a coach working with a driver for one day at a track and date most convenient for the driver. During the day, the Driver Coach will focus on evaluating the driver on a number of criteria within four key areas: racing, testing, physical and mental skills. Afterward, the coach will provide written and verbal analysis that will summarize his findings. Most importantly, the driver will walk away from the Assessment with tangible feedback that will help him or her become faster, make fewer errors and be more sensitive to what the car is “telling” him/her. As always, we will recommend a Driver Coach who is the best fit for the driver. The fee for the Assessment is $599 plus travel expenses for the coach. It is our intent to find a coach that has close proximity to the scheduled event to minimize travel expenses.
Once the Assessment has been completed and the driver is interested in a systematic path to improvement, the next step is personalized one on one Driver Coaching. This provides one on one Driver Coaching, including but not limited to the following areas: driving technique, Inner Speed Secrets, traction and speed sensing skills, data acquisition, racecraft and race strategy, vehicle dynamics, and feedback and communication. The pricing for this service is dependent on how many sessions or days that a driver purchases. As stated above, we will assign the best coach for every driver, and it is our intent to find a coach that has close proximity to the scheduled event to minimize travel expenses.
