There are two understatements in that one sentence.

And a Happy Thanksgiving to you too!

Having sold our place on LBI a couple of years ago after 18 years, we sometimes wonder what to do next, if anything. Harvey Seegal is helping me with that decision!

Hey Jaime, if we are going to travel to Virginia, we are going to VIR over Summit, hands down. Summit and Lime Rock are trying to see who can out do each other with the worst track surface.

When at VIR with TracQuest over July 4th we met Harvey and shared a beer or two and a few hours of stories. Harvey isnt just an investor, he is a racer at heart. So you know Thunderbolt is going to be great!

Too bad about LRP. That was a killer little track in the 80's. Pretty smooth and really fast. It still was in good shape the last time I ran there in 98.

Jon,
You are a tough sell indeed! The good news is I think its only 3 1/2 months (roughley sp.) until track season starts. Nice pics on the DTM site BTW....lets all try to get a diner in this winter.

Forget the sale, well at least on me. Maybe others in our group will go. Between Jefferson Circuit and Summit Points poor conditions, it isnt as as fun as VIRs layout.

As far as DTM, see you over there and we can organize something with the LI and NJ group! Dont know if you saw the 469 photos and no comment from Mike either. =(

Thanks for the "469" photos. Glad to at least be there in spirit.

Default Added this to trackpedia

So, it's in with their proposed track map. Looks very, very cool when it's done. It's a long drive from MN though...

Wow, I just checked out trackpedia for what they had about Millville, and then I drifted over to other tracks. They found a short video that I posted on Google for Watkins Glen. Now I'm infamous!

I see that the developer is now taking deposits for resident memberships: $500 to apply, $5,000 initiation, $200/month dues and $150/member driving day. That seems like a lot more than the fees at VIR, although it seems that there will be some sort of reciprocity between Thunderbolt and VIR.

What do you know about this?

Chris,
Supply and demand. Approx 40 million people live within a 3 hour commute to South Jersey vs. Approx 8 million people within a 3 hour drive to Danville, VA.
I'll see you @ VIR @ the end of the month. Are you going solo or is the GT3 getting a dual driver workout?

Right, Tony, but for that much more cash what does one really get compared to club DEs? I guess one can get more "member days" of driving, and the course does look really good on paper, but I'd be a bit reticent to sign up for that before knowing how their events run. I may have been spoiled with the PCA and BMW CCA events.

Loooking forward to VIR, but I'll be solo. Just had the car teched today. I think I have enough rear tread to make it all the way!

You either get it or you don't...want it or you don't. Reminds me of the people i know who are golfers, as I once was....endlessly debating the "value" of belonging to a private club...or working the public venues. It either works for you, or it doesn't.......and for every person who doesn't wnat it, thanks for keeping the private cost down!.
