Millville, NJ Track Update...It's a Go!
According to yesterday's Press of Atlantic City all remaining lawsuits regarding this track have been settled and ground will be broken in April of 2006 with the first of the tracks facilities to open the following spring.
This track, as many of you will recall, is being built by the same group that owns and runs VIR. I will make a prediction that this track (as long as the drivers take to it of course) will be the most succesful on the east coast...the proximity to major population centers (DC, Baltimore, Philly, NY,and Atlantic City) is unmatched. The proximity to my back door is about 40 minutes... .
Barbeque at my place after the first PCA DE!

It is rather flat indeed. The is a bit of a roll to the land out by the airport site though, of course nothing lke the land around the Glen. I'm hoping to get more info on the track at the NNJR VIR event this week.

It will be great having another big track, with first class facilities, so close to home! We have had them put on a presentation at one of our regional meetings. We need to get them back in '06 to get more specific about the track design, etc.
This one will make me wish I still live in Haddonfield!

Little off topic here. Haddonfield's a nice little town with or without close proximity to a track...one of my favorite NJ towns.
Bob will you be at the NNJR VIR? Thought I'd say hello...I've got a few trips to Ecuador under my belt (no Galapagos as of yet unfortunatley)...and always take not of your location.

I don't care how flat it is, anything beats Pocono. I am so tired of that track. Just as long as it is more than 2 miles around, and has at least one good straight, and one high speed sweeper.

Hi Jamie,
This will be a first class facility.
Last July, myself, Jon Sailer, Keith and few others were fortunate enough to have a lengthy discussion with Harvey Seigel, the owner and developer of VIR and the planned New Jersey track while we were down at VIR.
While the track will lack any substantial elevation changes, Harvey plans to make up for that with lots of interesting (viz., difficult) turns preceded by a couple of long fast straights. Larry, the term "decreasing radius" was mentioned more than once by Mr. Seigel. Seigel is an interesting man and a track junkie who still races his vintage automobiles.
Anyway, this is very exciting good news and I'm looking forward to a barbeque at your place with the DTM gang.
See you at VIR next week?
Richard
