Geoff,
I wish I knew sooner you were interested in this, I would have had you stop to talk this past weekend. I crew for a World Challenge touring car driver - we were at the Denver GP. He can give you some insight as to how hard it is to get noticed at a pro level.

I ran the intro Jim Russell school last October. They taught the basics of driving the car but nothing about racing. I understand they cover that in the advanced school. One thing you might want to look into is their mechanic school. If you're short on funds, get a job with a team and make your connections - I believe who you know is as important as how good you are.

Kurt, I wish I knew sooner too. I've always had a passion for it, I'd been reading up on it and at the grand prix, on Saturday, I decided that if I was at all serious, I needed to get my *** in gear...

Also, tomorrow's event is an open track day... just pay the track office $60.00, and go have fun for 4 hours. timing is done on your own.

MAKING IT IN THE BIG TIME - AND THE MONEY REQUIRED

This is the most depressing thread I have ever read and I am only 48 years old.
