Roof Rack Tire Mount Completed

I agree with Jack...
There is a load limit for the roof racks. Eight (8) tires and wheels is probably twice the amount recommend by Porsche. I believe on a 993 the suggested weight limit is 180 Lbs.
Once you have trailered the car....you'll never go back, IMHO. At least I wont. It is so incredible to arrive at the track with the car ready to go. Drive it off the trailer and head for the grid...it is that simple.

That looks even more nuts than my "I bet I can strap something else to it" trailer.

I had no sign of crack or bending... got some scratches though
Broke down and bought a trailer and truck.... alot easier to get to the track, but more of a PIA in other ways....

Just reviving this a bit. Just bought a rack...mostly as a "what if". Curious as to what people are doing now. The rack is rated at 165 lbs. My wheels are supposed to be 20-21 lbs each, so no way I'm close to the 165 total.
I'm inclined at this point to mount the rack with the cross bars close together ala' post above:
.
Might be a little less aero than the flat layout, but probably much easier to build, install, tear down, and store. Not to mention probably pretty easy to tie down the tires too.
I figure put them like above, put a bar through them all, then ratchet strap around/through the tires and ratchet strap the cross bars to the center bar going through the wheels.
Thoughts?
