All things being equal, slotted rotors last longer. Holes in rotors promote stress cracks at the holes and once the cracks join 3 or more holes, or, go to the rim, you replace the rotors. Slotted rotors don't crack. OTOH rotors with holes cool better than slotted ones so if you have a marginal cooling situation brake wise, rotors with holes will work better. Racers usually prefer slotted rotors.

Yup, slotted is the best way to go.

Rotor manufacturer is also a factor, though.

Not that you asked but keep in mind that solids offer the biggest heat sink. The more metal you take away the less resistant the entire system is to heat.

I agree with Bob and Jack, and I have slotted rotors. Drilled rotors do not last long on my car.

Chrisp: You are trying to balance heat sink versus quickness of cooling. It is difficult without taking data or knowing the heat requirement (track, car, and driver dependant) weather a heavier rotor is better.

After having suffered throwing away rotors that show virtually no wear other than stress cracks, I too have joined the slotted camp. Cryo'ed as well.

Any recommendations on which slotted rotor manufacturer(s) to go with? Assume mostly street with some track days.

thx

I'll be needing new front rotors for my 930 with the Big Reds.

Anybody know of a source for slotted rotors? 993TT rotors I think...

Solid rotors from NAPA !!!

Currently priced @ ~ $ 25.00 each !!!

At that price they are a desposable item !

Good for a three day Sebring Viper event & then toss em !

Hey;

Said it many times before. Umm... what everyone else said. Wouldn't have holey rotors for anything, unless that's all I could get. Not much chance of me needing tham for any car I'll ever own. I'd do more ducting before looking at drilled.

I buy Zimmerman OE rotors and slot them myself. They work VERY well.
