Slightly OT- Fire extinguisher looses charge quickly, anyone else?
Having come from Datsun 510 roots(they rival England's finest for random conflagrations) I always carry an extinguisher. For a number of years now I have a small halon unit that is unobtrusive to mount. Thing of it is, the initial charge lasted 4-5 years. I took it in and had it recharged, tagged, etc and with in 6-7 months it was flat again. Took it back in and they mumbled something about the seals wearing through blah blah. I always stow it the recommended upright position, so the seals should last at least a year, actually more. Wouldn't you think? It pisses me off alright, because recharging is not cheap. I suppose I ought to just get a bigger bottle, since the cost of filling a bigger vs. a smaller one is nearly the same, because the labor is the bulk of the cost.

The seals should last MUCH longer then 1 year. I am going into Firefighting and have to know all this crap but keeping one charged for 3/4 years with keeping a charge is about what it should be if kept upright.
