Default Where art thou, 911 CUP

Where art thou, 911 CUP ???

Stock E wasn't good enough for you. You wanted your own special class. You have your own special tire. You have your own championship in your own class. You even have special designated races for a super extra special extra mini championship for your special tire in your special class.

So 911 CUP why aren't you at your special race at VIR ???

26th wedding anniversary, thats my story and I am sticking to it!

Doing vintage race at Laguna in July, way cooler in monterey in July than VIR in late June (so freaking hot)

E drivers are mostly sitting out this year awaiting the demise of the illconcieved 911 CUP and the reunification of all E cars to one cohesive group.

I checked the entry roster for the VIR Race and found 3 911 Cup entries, 5 E entries and about 10 911s that might be E cars racing in Vintage VO. Looks to me like the Vintage class is taking more cars away from E than 911 Cup! E cars now have three classes to chose from so the class is being seriously depleted.

The Vintage rules look interesting. Basically run what you brung, no championship and no close scrutinizing..

I’m here at VIR and the vintage group is awesome! Visually the most interesting on track and the drivers in general are smiling much more than most others...

Does the competition in the vintage group seem on par with what we have traditionally seen in E or F? Fred put the squeeze on me to run in vintage at LRP this year but I stayed in F. The competition was good. WGI was also ok. I hate to see these great historical classes broken up.

Not in the traditional sense. The cars span a wide range.

But I have worked with "VU" cars that could be in the top three overall, in historic racing at VIR. And good historic VO cars that would be four to five seconds quicker than the PCA vintage pole at VIR. But no matter. It's cool. I think what Mark and crew are doing is great.

Definitely not. It's a less aggressive, more relaxed, gentleman like racing environment. Good and experienced drivers nevertheless.

Ran vintage at Mid O and it was a blast

Also ran the normal run group so had double the track time for like 350 bucks more.

I like this concept.

There are quite a few folks "double dipping" (two race groups) this weekend at VIR. They're tired but happy!
