Default LS event

Hold on guys, my info is that the vintage group is still a go at LS. The sp911's are included in the vintage group so right now over 20 in the vintage group. They'll be a few more in the next month so should be a good show with a lot of really competitive racing. The video may be more spot on compared to a bunch of geezers riding around at 80%
Anyone thinking about coming to Laguna in July for the vintage will have some good racing for sure.
thanks
mc

Stephen told me about the hip check but I hadn’t seen the video. Wow.. he and Don went off right in front of me at Oak Tree, but the tap was behind me.
Notice Stephen’s “driving in anger” right after, tracking him down and passing by T1?

Yeah...relaxed....no aggression here... ;-)

Nice line, Scott!

Man, that black car did the blue car no favors, and the red car? Hail Mary!

Not your father's vintage racing, for sure...

I would say there was less than stellar driving in ALL groups at VIR. Shocked at the extended yellows, a situation that seems to be getting more frequent.

I really gotta agree peter, i saw some things on track all too often.....i few committing to obviously wrong decisions and very little planning on the exit of a corner. only had a few mirror blocks....see car coming, miss corner then shoot accross bow of overtaking driver trying to get back online.

Issues Just happened more often than usual

The restarts made it even worse. Yellows breed yellows.....

The rookies in general did very good.

Despite all this was a great event again. Just wish inhad gone faster.

Agree. Not sure what the solution is but there was an awful lot of avoidable carnage out there. I had a front row seat to some pretty dubious car control skills.

I am looking forward to giving vintage a shot. I'll be in VO with a 2.7L powered 914 with stock fenders and quarters so 15x7s with 225s at all 4 corners. I am shooting for a functional 20 footer.

As far as the racing in vintage at VIR? Lots of close racing and not just a 24 car procession for 30 mins. And some great looking cars to add to the fun.

Yes, there were a few in the red and yellow groups but for the most part there was very heads up, courteous driving. Of course some of the miscreants got filtered out in sprint 1 and i wasn't out there for that.

Update - The PCA Laguna Seca race weekend (7/19-21) will have the Vintage Group practice, qualifying and race sessions. It has NOT been canceled. Current car count for this group is 16. Would be great to get about 10 more. Who’s interested?

103 DB sound limit, which are hard to get at Laguna.

PCA Vintage Group is open to all air-cooled Porsche’s up thru the 1989 911 Carrera G series that meet PCA Club Racing Safety requirements.

Details here - https://pcaclubracing.org/vintage/

Let me know if any questions.

Also for 2019 there are some incentives for first timers from other race series. PM me for details.

More details and register here - (link updated)
