Would you rather spend your time racing cars or playing video games?

12 mins of my life I can't get back. Not even a single clip of his setup.

His argument is that he can't enjoy racing because of the danger.

Maybe he should just get insurance and then he won't care anymore.

OT: I don't want to get mired in that thread over there, but what a train wreck. Not many chances to drop that Billy Madison clip - well played.

I think the issue with crashing was due to his anxiety, many people have anxiety and for some its hard to function daily.

While racing or driving on a sim is not for everyone i thought some of his points were valid. He obviously enjoys the sport but for him its easier doing it in front of a computer due to anxiety issues, time and money. I was lucky enough to race and hopefully will come back when the time is right but for some people they cant afford to wad up a car, the time off from work/family commitments and this is another option to fulfill their driving need.

I know many who love planes but cant afford to fly, the next best thing for them is sim and model aircraft. Different strokes for different folks.

One thing about a sim is track time is convenient, plentiful, and cheap. Same can be said for the car, gas, brakes, tires...

But no, it's not the same. I have a decent sim setup. I even modified the pedal setup to copy my car including having a pressure sensing brake pedal. Used it to learn and practice heel-toe but once that was done I haven't used it since.

Definitely not the same but i do feel you can work on ways to improve your driving with one.

Safeplaces crowd and racing never quite get along.

Heart attack in his home more likely or crash on the way to the track.

I am of a different mindset of the benefits of a sim...

I'm sure that I am odd but I'm always more anxious at the start of a race on iRacing then I am in real life since I don't feel nearly as in control with no butt dyno.
