Sounds like Porsche took some exhaust note tuning from F1.
Is it just me or does that motor not sound like a cup car?

The center exit exhausts (even if still dual) like the previous one had always have that higher pitched exhaust note. Same thing for older 911s. Definitely a different sound on this new car.

Wonder why Porsche moved the exhaust to side exit? Think it has to do with aero at the rear diffuser?

Probably. The diffuser is the reason they keep inching the engine forward toward the cabin, from all the stuff I've read in mags and online, so that makes sense. With that new positioning, it may have saved even incrementally small amounts of weight positioning it there, like the old AMR's did with their side-exhausts instead of running it to the rear. Who knows exactly!

Interference with the diffuser is a good possibility for why they moved the exhaust ...

I just now actually listened to this, and it sounds more like the Ford GT than the current RSR, in that it has "noise", but not a "note". Kind of a bummer. We'll also lose the grumble of the AMR Vantage this year, since the GTE-Am team will be able to use the current car next season.

The original RSR still sounds pretty good.
