Willow Springs, Sunday June 2nd with
Checkered Flag Racing: Incredible amounts of track time, ran this event with Checkered Flag earlier in the year. Safety is stressed..ambulance and corner workers provided. I have signed up with my 2004 GT3. My pal Stephan is going with his Spec Boxster. I may have some other pals coming along as well.
David Kan who runs these events would appreciate some more participants to offset the cost of this event that he funds...Willow is prime this early in June.....if this cool weather holds, it should be an epic time.
Professional instruction is available. Registration is at motorsportReg.com
Newbys, Watch Jack Miller's instructional video on You Tube. It's really good.

Weather looks good
88 F high, 0 probability of rain, 30% humidity. This is by design a low turnout event, in effect, a private track day. Checkered Flag Racing runs a well organized and safe event. Hope to see some Rennlisters there...I'll be in a Carrara White GT3, #10.
Driving last Feb with Checkered Flag Racing...great time.

I bought this Lil Hot Rod to
...enjoy her. So far in nearly 2 years, awesome performance and reliability. And the power and induction song between 5000 and 8000 RPM, nearly indescribable
Haven't seen you and your family in quite some time... Garrett Jr should be about ready for high school. Time flys. .

New plan....
Watch and re-watch Jack Olsen's You Tube Willow Springs Instructional video. Then when I get to the track on Sunday, drive more slowly (if that is possible)....I am about 5 seconds off my best time with the track prepped 993, a 1:33.2
I am somewhat cautious in 8, but as Jack points out, few people ever go off in 8, other than for a mechanical failure, but still I take a questionable line, and overly cautious in 9, spooked by the turn in and fear of the consequences of an early apex. I also over-brake for Turn 1.
8, 9 and 1 are my weak spots, in my estimation. I'll see if I can clean up my act.

AS Sponge Bob is know to say,
"I'm ready!"
All loaded up and ready to go. New tires on the SUV, all gassed up, fresh oil and filters....I'll leave Paso Robles about 4:00 AM for the 3 1/2 hour drive to Willow Springs. I sure hope that others take advantage of this Test and Tune day.
Thanks for arrange this David!!!!

Postscript...I over did it! But I re-learned a lot,
Getting up at 3:45 AM, I drove 3 hours and 10 minutes to Willow Springs. Now add in track time from 9:00 AM to Noon, pack up and read home...that's makes for a long day. Lesson, don't try that again. Next time I'll drive over the day before. I needed a large Monster drink to keep me alert on the way home.
The track day, as promised by the organizer, David Kan from Checkered Flag racing, the car count was around 20, from Spec Miata to a McLaren. Incredible variety. If you want track time, try up to 7 hours on for size.
