I found out last night that my wife has the book but hasn't read it yet!!

I hope they are able to do justice to it on film.
Watching a movie/TV show, or even reading a book, where you have an emotional connection to the story is sometimes rough. It brings thought bubbling to the surface. I've been there.

I really enjoyed the book. Without spoilers, there were a few parts that I almost stopped reading it because it was rough. It was definitely worth finishing!
I agree that I hope they do justice to the book. We'll see.

Of course if Enzo was a cat instead of a dog, the story would be that much better.

They originally wanted to do that, but Toonces refused to let them use the driving cat idea.

My cats have always enjoyed watching racing with me. I'm sure they could do it.
The real question to me is whether or not my cats could drive my dog box.

It would have been a much shorter book.

Enzo the Cat: I saw what my owner was going through and I honestly could not give a $hit. Just feed me.

Bigoted comments like these against cats really aren't tolerated any more.

So even this scene from Jurassic Park Fallen Kingdom was gut wrenching: (advance to 2:10)

Attempts at describing driving in a "writerly" way were also unsatisfying to me (long-time track hound here, I*love* tracking in the pouring rain). Dostoevsky, it aint... Of course this movie ain't gonna be any Le Mans or Grand Prix either. Sappy overly sentimental schlock, for sure. I doubt I'd be able to stand 5 minutes of it, let alone 90+. But then I hate most things....
Yeah I have to agree with Dan.

I read it. The book has too many angles in it built in to interest the non-car person (and sell books). Remember we car folk are in the minority.

There is a section having to do with child molestation that I felt was misplaced. It was not interesting to me at least and detracted from the storyline. If they needed something like that the book could have found a better angle. I soldiered on & stuck with it all to the end, but this car guy wont again.
