Default Great VIR Lap in TA car

I saw that Mike Skeen posted this up from some data laps he was doing at VIR. The car he is driving was driven by Boris Said last year and has some serious motor. I haven't seen the car in a while, but it was very well prepared and fast. Great lap by Mike and at the pole time for last years race.

David Murry Track Days are great for this sort of thing.

Marc, the new owner, took off quite a bit of time his first day in the car.

The nose of the car was catching air and not firmly mounted at the bottom, so it would go into a high speed oscillation as the pressure changed under the splitter and behind. Look at the end of the back straight.

It was a pleasure working with Mike, Marc, Billy Jr. and all the fine folks at JRIII in this inaugural outing at David Murry. We have CAN now so all is good.

To quote the late great Dale Earnhardt:

You talk about motor? That thing's all ate up with motor.

That motor just sounds so sweet and the driver just makes it look so easy. Noticed the hood dancing north of 160MPH too.

The “hood dance” is the front one-piece body of the car oscillating up and down. It’s on the checklist to fix, just couldn’t be done at the track during the event. Hats off to Skeen for keeping his foot in it. He didn’t want to do another lap...

Holy crap what a beast of a machine. 182 on the back straight? Seriously?

What's under the hood, a small jet engine?

Great video Matt. Thanks for posting.

Believe it or not, that is not the strongest motor in the field! TA cars are serious beast and can hustle on most any track.

When I saw the video, I thought folks would get a kick out of it. Mike Skeen can wheel a car and has done a fair bit of TA and TA2 testing in the last few years.
