Default Instructor killed at PBIR April 16 2019

Unconfirmed reports are that an instructor riding with a teenage driver in a Lamborghini went off the end of the main straight .Car was traveling well over 100mph through the braking zone straight into the barrier. The instructor was killed on impact and the teenage student was airlifted awake and talking. It happened Tuesday night around 7 during a private track session. I'll wait until the news reports the name of the instructor but he is known to all of the Florida racing community. So sad and the reason I never right seat in a street car with anyone on a racetrack.

Bad news like this really brings it home.

Its probably hard enough for paid instructors to reconcile the risk, but for the majority of us who instruct as part of our hobby, it makes it that much harder.

Prayers for the instructor and driver as well as their families and friends.

It's hard as an instructor to toe the line between sticking your head in the sand and 'truly' accepting the risks associated.

Terrible news - my heart goes out to everyone involved as well as those impacted - I have several friends that are hit hard by this.

Awful news so sad to hear. As an instructor and I know a lot of fellow instructors in Florida I am scared to find out about the fatality.

Very sad. Peter was a wonderful guy, a great instructor and longtime competitor.

Absolutely horrific news...... Condolences for all those impacted.
I believe someone was killed there earlier in the year on the karting track, 2 fatalities at the same facility within the same year is unfathomable.
