Good stuff--my inners wear faster than the outers (stock calipers on a Mini) so I order my pads with all outer backing plates (the ones without the ears for the sensor wire) and/or grind the ears off so I can swap them inside/outside.

Also did run into some severe chunking with a well-known brand years ago; changed brands and now all good

Glad to hear they condone swapping pad locations. Tip: put numbers 1-4 on the back of each pad so you can track what positions they’ve been in.

No worries gents. Glad you all enjoyed it!

Yes! I have done that, and suggested others doing that as well using DFI (Driver Front Inner) or PRO (Passenger Rear Outer). I should put that in the article. Thanks for the reminder!

Is there a recommended rotation pattern for brake pads or just swap inner and and outer on the same side periodically?

Rotate as needed/demanded. Each track scenario and driving condition is going to be different. A track that has all of its turns in one direction will likely result in a different wear pattern than a track that has a balance of left and right hand turns, so recorded wear should dictate where you put them.
