Nitrogen Bottles
 

Anyone using the compact bottle in the US? It seems very common in EU. The full size is a bit more than I want to put in the trailer and use for air jacks quite limited to a few off-on rain tires no racing use. Thanks, also where to find.

google Praxair You buy a 55cu ft unit (about 3 ft tall) and a nitrogen regulator. Then when needed you exchange tank for a refilled one. praxair is all over the country Regulator needs to be 0-600psi with max working at least 400psi. A 3500lb car needs about 350psi to lift the car on most jacks. Depending on jacks that needed psi could be a bit more or less. Go to hydraulic store to buy/make a hose for that working pressure. A harbor freight 350psi hose is not enough.

Look at a beverage supply store. I carry a small aluminum take for tires. Significantly lighter than a steel bottle.

I have a steel and aluminum bottles, and I much prefer the aluminum. It is lighter and has a built in handle.

Get real here. As in very real and very light. Pyramidair has at times Carbon fiber air tanks retired from local fire fighters. Re tested for a second life. I have one that is rated for 4500 PSI in its second life and weighs nothing. Good for most of the season. Scuba tank size.
Look around any air rifle site and you will see tons of options for CF tanks.
Not sure if local welding gas suppliers will fill CF tanks. But Pyramid has all the fittings you need to fill from a full size N bottle. Most Nitrogen bottles are around 3000 psi but I bring in a few 5000 psi bottles a year for my air rifles. Most rifles take about 3000 psi but I have a few that take 4300 psi fill.

I use the 3'steel ones . They work great I carry 2 in my truck. I use up one each race weekend and cost nothing to fill up maybe $25 or so. It fits into any car so its east to bring it over for refills .

Found these while looking for tire inflator setups. Not sure if they'd be high enough pressure for air jacks though.

I have 3 small N bottles that I no longer use. Not sure of the test date but will check. To use you would need a regulator and hose.

Carbon fiber air tank rated at 4500 psi. Local fire departments need to replace these breathing tanks every so many years so somebody buys them up in lots and tests and re certifies at a lower pressure.
Very light and fits in a plastic tool box to protect the regulator.

I cannot zoom in far enough to read the specs on your tank and more specifically the valve that adapts to your welding regulator. All of the airsoft gun valves that fit SCBA tanks are made specifically for slow-flow, which seems like it would be problematic if trying to use this tank to raise the car via air jacks.

Can you provide more info or pics on your carbon fiber (recycled Firefighter) air tank setup? Thank you!!

I just saw this reply. May take me a day or two to see what is up. Yes, slow fill for airsoft but I am into air rifles. Very different. Airsoft will sting your leg a little bit. My air rifles make a Pffft sound but put a 9mm round through a 2x6. There is somebody who specializes in these tanks with regulators. This is a market that he will want.

And if he sees an untapped market he may be very interested. He is the one who supplied my regulator to use on 5000psi N tanks. I cobbeled the other parts for tire duty from Pyramid.
