Nice to see Ferrari's DPS (Don't Pass Seb) system is working remarkably well though. I guess Charles can sleep well knowing he won't wake up to a horse's head in his bed.

I don't know what you are guys are seeing but first of all it is race 1. I'm not sure you can judge the season by that.
Things I saw different:
1. Bottas is going to fight LH this year.
2. Red Bull is quicker that Ferrari and Max was on LH's gearbox.
3. Honda has a quick engine which is reliable over race distance.
4. A McLaren finished 12th.
5. Kvyat seems more mature and competitive.
6. The B team field is awesome.

I wouldn't be too quick to jump all over Kubica. He had an abysmal weekend in the worst car on the grid on his first race in 8 years. If it continues for the next few races, then Claire will have to decide on alternatives. I would love to see him return to his old form.
Ferrari may be in trouble. Their race pace was worse than their qualifying pace. It's not acceptable to finish behind Red Bull!
It appears the aero changes have helped being able to stay close to the car in front. I expect this will be more obvious in future races.
Agreed. The mid pack race is going to be incredible between Renault, Alfa Romeo, Haas, and Racing Point. With maybe Torro Rosso and McLaren not too far behind.
Getting an extra point for the fastest lap is a great idea. That's going to play in some extra strategies throughout the season. I expect it to backfire on someone at some point!
I hope Bottas can stay strong and keep Hamilton off the top step. He needs to shed his wimpy reputation. I will laugh if Hamilton is asked to move over for him in a future race!

well done Bottas, won by a mile. Super impressed by how Red Bull have taken the Honda engine and made it work for them, gotta make you really wonder what McLaren were doing?
Ferrari will make changes albeit it does appear they have started on the back foot of the top 3 teams.
The mid pack team are all so close, what a job by Kimi, kinda like his days at Lotus, he likes being the underdog.

The change was that this was an exciting race!
Bottas Wow! 20 seconds quicker than LH (albeit LH allegedly had floor damage)
How about the mid field? Great racing from 6-11.
Honda seems reliable.

Can someone explain the difference in durability and time between the medium and hard tire?
LH seemed to run the medium compound for the bulk (at least 2/3) of the race.
Why bother with hard tire if medium is so durable?

I feel sorry for the Williams team. 800 employees and dismal results. Probably some very uncomfortable conversations happening. Haas did so much better with heir 200+ employees. Well, except for their Australian pit stop woes.
Agree that the mid mid pack was exciting, and that’s where the camera crews were. A bit Ironic that the leaders got almost no airtime. Unfortunately I was able to hit fast-forward quite often and able to see everyone remain well spaced on the data displays. Speaking of that, they should just make the position number purple rather than add a separate purple timer callout for fastest lap. (I guess the race wasn’t exciting enough if I’m thinking about he UX)

In 2018 LH finished 2nd in Melbourne, in 2019 LH finished 2nd in Melbourne. We all know how 2018 ended up. The real story after the Aussie GP is that MB apparently didn’t reveal their cars’ full potential during the winter practice sessions and let Ferrari bask in the glory of their fast car, only to unleash the full potential when it mattered. That LH finished 2nd and held off Verstappen with a damaged car is a testament to his skill as a driver.
Max is on the rise, Ferrari needs to go back to the drawing board quickly, Ricciardo might be questioning his decision to bolt for Renault, Stroll actually looked like a legit F1 driver, I can’t understand why Grosjean still has a seat in F1, McLaren is adrift and Williams won’t survive as a stand-alone team for long. Gotta love F1
