This is a SPB against a GT3 with the GT3 taking a quite late pass (its a long way from T7 to T10 (T8/9 are flat) looking at the skills of the GT3 even if he would have made the pass he would have parked it in T10 and T11
Agreed.

It’s important to remind ourselves that, to be prudent even if not spelled out (anymore), the primary responsibility is on the overtaking driver to complete a pass safely. They’re the only one who can see both cars at all times (or should), and there is NO possible incident if there isn’t a passing car...

The GT3 failed in that responsibility, regardless what the camera car was doing.

I can’t believe folks would even allude that contact, especially avoidable contact, in THIS venue, is even remotely par for the course... smdh

Generally a more powerful car has an obligation to get off the gas to let a less powerful car pass- the converse is not true. I would have hunted down driver to discuss incident if for nothing else to share video and use it as a teaching moment. I think all experienced drivers have an obligation to discuss dangerous driver conduct at DE"s when we see it.

Also just wanted to share my attitude about point bys. I'm always looking to practice off line turn entry because I hope to race someday. So I'll stay inside even when there IS room to go back out, just for the practice.

Then you are doing it right. If you are looking to race in the future then take as much advantage of the more controlled DE setting as you can by practicing different scenarios. One word of caution, let your chiefs know your future plans so you aren't called in for something silly. Keep your "race" practice well within the confines of the DE rules and environment.

I think if there is an incident, the people should certainly talk, but no one should expect someone to pay them for anything. I would even add, I wouldn't do the passive agressive thing. If someone hit me and didn't come over, I'd go find them to talk.

I think talking to him (as opposed to confronting him) at the event would have been a better way to approach the incident than posting the video and his name on Rennlist.

Very sorry this happened.

Something I would like to see discussed more... Lifting in expanded passing groups..

I keep seeing that here as well as hearing it in the paddock "he didn't lift"... You do not need to lift in expanded passing... The point of lifting is to allow the overtaking car to complete the pass before the turn... In expanded passing, this is not required. You go into and through the turn together.

That's the whole point of expanded passing..

Good Points! I'm not a big fan of public shaming.
