Helmet friendly driving glasses?
I am about to replace my aging Oakley (Ewires?) prescription sunglasses. They are polarized and have a dark bronze tint that makes visibility so much better in many different lighting situations. Only drawback is that they were not easy to get to fit under my helmet.
Curious what folks use for their track driving eye wear. Thanks, DJM |

I use the Liberty Sport IT-20 glasses. They fit very well under a helmet because of the wrap around design. I have two pair, one with clear and one with smoke colored prescription lenses. See my classified add below, I also have an extra pair in silver.

The Randolph Avaitors do look nice (generally a fan of the Aaviator style), but glass lenses for driving does concern me. DJM |
FYI, you may not want polarized if you have any kind of data acquisition or digital dash as you will not be able to see it.

I use Oakley Turbine frames with clear prescription lenses. They are easy to put on after your helmet is on and they have a lot lense area to give you a great viewing area. In the past I used sunglasses and a clear face shield, but now I use tinted face shields and clear glasses. I like that approach much better. Charley |

In my option it’s essential to select a frame that has straight temples. If the temples are designed to wrap around your ears, they won’t work with a helmet. |
Just bring your helmet to any eyeglass shop and see what fits. For me I needed flexible frames and straight ear pieces that were stiff enough for me to push past the headsock and pads. Checks get pushed up some too so lens shape need to compensate for that and possible fogging from a sweaty face touching the lower part of the lens/frame. I use transition lens so I don't have one less hassle. The best frames I have found are at Costco. They have more traditional (cheap) frames that work. For example my helmet glasses ear pieces are like dipped plastic on the metal frames so they smoothly run behind my headsock. My $1000 designer ic berlin's have a weird trick sticky cover over the ear piece and drags and pinches my short hairs upon entering my helmet.

After replacing my Aim MXL2 with a MXS with a tft screen. I could not see the data with the color background. I was forced to wear eyeglasses, after much trial and error the Oakley Gauge 7.1 were my choice, The design allow the glasses to slide in and out easily.

I’d say it’s more about finding a glasses-friendly helmet. The ones with a bigger eye opening are usually better. |
Oakley work the best due to there straight sides that grip the side of your head and allow you to easily slide the glasses on and off with helmet on..plus the nose bumpers on Oakley are rubber and do not slid down your nose. Best glasses I’ve ever had especially when wearing a helmet |

Thanks for the suggestions. I do plan to take my helmet and balaclava, but wanted to narrow down the options before heading to eye doc. I have major OCD when choosing such things as new glasses, so want to research options first.
