Default Sebring Go-Cart Mansion

Okay, this post has very little, if anything, to do with racing. I'll admit it right up front and spare you the joy of lampooning me. But I confess to a morbid fascination with extremely large homes in areas mostly filled with trailer parks. Sebring, Florida, as most of you know, is generally not recognized for its housing. It's a desolate and depressing haven for retirees and rednecks in double-wides. Lakefront mansions? Nope. So imagine my surprise when I stumbled upon this place... a $3.864,000 million, 10 bathroom, 5 bedroom, 13,852 sqft McMansion on the north shore of Lake Jackson...with a GO CART TRACK IN THE BACK YARD. Okay, you can return to what you were doing. I just wanted to point this out.

Sebring has a population of 9,667 and a median income of $23,555.

Alan Jay's house. He is a big supporter of Sebring International Raceway and is a pretty good shoe behind the wheel of a car.

That's half the residential tax base for Sebring right there.

Some people put bowling alley's or theaters in their house... pretty cool to see a go-kart track. Seems like some here knows who he is -- perhaps he has young kids? Pretty awesome dad if so! Better than a tree house!

According to county records, he bought an existing house on the 2.09 acre lot in March 1997 for $370,000 and knocked it down. The new home was built in 2010. The garage is 1,400 square feet and has 10 parking spaces. The driveway has $88,000 of pavers. The home has a wine cellar and tasting room...and an elevator...marble flooring, a dock, boathouse and gazebo. The go cart track was built in 2010 for $66,000. For taxation purposes, the county values the home at $1,940,125.
