Driving to LCMT Tremblant from NJ
I plan to drive to Tremblant for the July DE with NNJR and NER from central NJ. Will actually drive my GT3, not trailering. Looks like a long drive and fastest route would be the NY State Thruway basically all the way. But, having spent a fair amount of time in the Berkshires as a kid, I used to love the drive up old route 22 to 7 (which looks like it can get me to the Canadian border if I stay on it).
Other than the obvious time penalty this will create, are there any must stop/see places on the drive from NJ to Tremblant? Any great food stops? Largest ball of twine in Vermont? Any advice would be appreciated. The good news is that July 4 is a holiday and the event starts on the 5th, so I have the whole day to make my way north. I’m actually super excited about the drive up, and thinking of warmer days to come. Would be cool to find a hidden treasure on the trip if anyone knows of one. |
Funny, I've done the drive from NYC to LCMT a few times and never really stopped to enjoy it, would love to see what people come up with....

I used to live in Great Barrington years ago, I always enjoyed breakfast at Martins. Hopefully it's still around.

I was thinking about signing up for this event as its over my vacation.

Hemmings is in Bennington VT. A good gearhead stop at their museum.
There used to be a great fried fish place called Vern's in Bennington too. Might still be there. |
Watkins Glen is a great stop along the way:)
Coopers town if into baseball Ben and Jerry's factory tour in Vermont You can put your car on a ferry over one of the finger lakes You could stop in Montreal on the way too |
"You can put your car on a ferry over one of the finger lakes" Umm..No?

It is a terrific ride through VT, plenty of sites and not that much longer.. I took GT3 to the Porsche parade in Vt a couple years ago.
As said already, the Glen is on the way too, a must see IMHO My sig picture was taken at the Orvis shop in Vermont |

I think Watkins Glen is a bit too far west to be efficient, but I've driven there the last 2 years and will be there again hopefully at the end of July. I'm digging the Vermont, Bennington, Burlington route at the moment. Will need to see what Route 7 looks like in terms of entertaining driving.
http://www.equinoxmountain.com fun thing to do too, it's pretty lumpy though.. |
Stop by Lake George?

don't forget about Saratoga Springs.....plenty of decent restaurants to visit and it could be right on your way.

It's been a long time, but the Equinox Inn owner was a PCA racer. Not sure if it's the same person. |
